A339 Improvements

This project involves highway improvements along the A339 between the Pinchington Lane Roundabout and the entry to the Household Waste Recycling Centre.
The A339 will be widened on both sides to make room for two lanes in either direction and a new traffic light controlled junction will be constructed. The new junction will connect the A339 to a new link road that will serve the new Highwood Copse Primary School and will include a pedestrian crossing to allow users to safely cross the A339. Further works included in the scheme are major utility diversions on both sides of the A339, significant surface water drainage works and footway construction.
Initially, the new junction will only serve the school, but the junction and link road have the potential to provide an access route to housing in that area if an appropriate scheme comes forward for a residential development on the adjacent site.
The project is part funded by Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership's Local Growth Deal Funding.
Works are due to start in October 2020 and last until Spring 2022.
