End of week 19
More utility diversions and progress on upgrading drainage on the A339.
Utility diversions have been in full swing again this week, this time involving the SKY network. Their fibre infrastructure is being slewed and moved from their existing position to a new one in the new road formation, very similar to the work completed by Thames Water. While on site, SKY have also repaired their ducting and placed new carriageway inspection chambers. Access to these chambers will be completed once the iron work is in place, at the tarmac level.
Additional work on the main stretch of the A339 has also been started this week, which involves cutting a trench in the existing carriageway to expose the drainage infrastructure. This will then be upgraded to 225mm diameter piping to ensure sufficient capacity for the increase in carriageway space.
Activities on site next week:
- BT network infrastructure diversion.
- Constructing new manholes on A339 for the drainage.
- Installing further infrastructure such as loop boxes for the traffic signals.
