End of week 20
New road alignment along A339 kerbed and drainage works.
SKY have completed the moving of their network to its final position in the new road formation. New chambers have been constructed which allows maintenance access to their fibre network. These have been constructed to match the final road level.
The widening of the existing A399 is starting to take shape with the kerbing of the new alignment. This will include the replacing of existing bus stops, which are constructed with larger Kassel kerbs, making it easier to board and alight from the bus. Crossing points have also been constructed with the kerbing, allowing for the laying of tactile pavers.
With the widening of the A339, new drainage is also being installed. The past week saw the installation of the main pipe work, which had to be installed in a trench cut into the existing road.
This is then backfilled with concrete, ready for the new road to be constructed over it. Additional gullies and chambers will also be constructed to feed this new drainage system.
Activities on site next week:
- Laying base course on the new footpath adjacent to the A339.
- Continuing with drainage works.
