End of week 24 and 25
Drainage installation on A339.
The past two weeks have seen a lot of progress on laying the improved drainage on the southbound carriageway of the A339. The previous works regarding the utility diversions have now been reinstated up to the sub-base level, allowing the tarmac base course to be laid once the remaining drainage has been installed.
The 225mm diameter pipe will be connected to the roads surface by a series of gullies. Maintenance access will be provided by newly constructed manholes, which the pipe work is connected to.
Similarly to the drainage construction in the new link road, the pipe is surrounded by concrete before the tarmac layers. A section of pipe work is completed before the next section is excavated.
Activities on site next week:
- Continuing drainage installation.
- Backfill and reinstatement of carriageway.
