End of week 50

Continued progress on pavement construction

Posted by: Network Improvements Team on 20 September 2021 10:40

Last week, the remaining sections of binder course were laid in the footpath and carriageway, leaving only the surface course to be laid. The surface course is the final layer in the pavement construction. In addition to the binder being laid, the tactile pavers which mark crossing points at the new pedestrian crossing have also been laid.

The bus stop adjacent to the new crossing point has also been reinstated, with the appropriate raised kerbs in preparation for when the widened road is opened.

The traffic light control infrastructure has also had its concrete surface constructed, which will prevent undergrowth from overgrowing it and maintain good access.
