West Berkshire Council celebrates Silver Award
West Berkshire Council has been awarded Silver Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme

West Berkshire Council is honoured to have recently been awarded the Silver Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, in recognition of our commitment to the Armed Forces.
With over 4000 Veterans, the area has the highest number of ex-regular and ex-reserve personnel in the county and is home to the 77th Brigade at Dennison Barracks.
The honour reflects the Council's commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant by championing Service Personnel, Veterans, Reservists and military families to ensure they are not disadvantaged.
Cllr Stephanie Steevenson, Vice Chairman and Armed Forces Champion, and Carolyn Richardson, Service Manager for Emergency Planning and a Serving Army Reservist, attended the South East Reserve Forces and Cadet Association (SE RFCA) Employer Recognition Award Ceremony to receive the award.
Cllr Steevenson commented:
"It was a marvellous event, not only in receiving the Silver award on behalf of the Council, but also meeting all the other 32 award winners in the South East, all of whom were very proud to receive their awards. The award confirms our commitment to the military families who live and work in our area".
