Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment

Health and Wellbeing Board logo
Since April 2013, every Health and Wellbeing Board in England has a statutory duty to publish and keep up-to-date statement of the needs for pharmaceutical services for the population in its area.

The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) describes the needs of West Berkshire's residents. It considers current provision of pharmaceutical services to determine whether they meet those needs. It also identifies any gaps in service provision.

PNAs are used by NHS England to make decisions on which NHS-funded services need to be provided by local community pharmacies. They may also be used by bodies involved in commissioning local health services to identify gaps in relation to local priorities.

The current version of the PNA was approved on 29 September 2022. You can download the West Berkshire Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2022-2025 from the West Berkshire Observatory.

The West Berkshire Observatory also includes supplementary statements. These statements identify gaps in provision that are judged to have occurred as a result of changes to pharmaceutical services within the district following publication of the PNA. You can find the PNA supplementary statements on the West Berkshire Observatory.
