We're starting to release our code to integrate generative artificial intelligence as open source

In December 2023 we held a show and chat with some practical examples of where we are and might be using generative artificial intelligence.

Originally intended only for our own staff, we decided to open it up to anyone working in the public sector and in the end it was attended by nearly 200 people from over 40 councils and central government departments.

In keeping with the Local Digital Declaration we're now starting to release some of the code behind these prototypes and proof of concepts.

You can find it in our GitHub repository.

What it contains are by no means finished products, and are more of a shortcut to allow the increasing numbers of organisations utilising low-code platforms to plug them into artificial intelligence.

It's written in JavaScript, one of the core technologies of the World Wide Web and utilises Node.JS, an open-source JavaScript runtime environment meaning it could be integrated into almost any low-code platform as well as more traditional hand-crafted applications if needed.

At present there's not much to see, just one integration that can be used to redact text, but more will follow so watch this space throughout 2024.
