Carers Strategy
Delivering and improving services for carers in West Berkshire
The
identifies a set of key priorities to help support carers in West Berkshire. The strategy is intended to support carers and young carers, ensuring that the services they need are available and are of a good quality. Their contribution to our communities is vital, so supporting them as much as possible in their caring role benefits everyone.
West Berkshire Council Carers Strategy is currently being revised and is out for public consultation. The revised strategy sets out our priorities and vision for supporting and enabling carers of all ages who live in West Berkshire. It explains how Adult Social Care will work jointly with health organisations, private and voluntary organisations and carers to deliver its vision during the period 2024-2027. Who Creates the Carers Strategy?
The West Berkshire Carer's Strategy Group are responsible for producing the strategy.
The group, run by West Berkshire Council, includes representatives from carers organisations such as:
- Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)
- Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust
- Reading and West Berkshire Carers Hub
- Oxfordshire Crossroads and Carers
They develop the strategy based on the local health needs assessment, but they also take into account feedback from local carers groups and our annual carers survey. They produce an action plan, based on the priorities identified in the strategy. Progress against the action plan is then reviewed and monitored by the Strategy Group.
The Strategy Group meets quarterly - if you would like to be involved, please get in touch with us.
