Local elections 2027

The next district and parish local elections will be held on Thursday 6 May 2027, subject to Government re-organisation. There are no scheduled elections to be held in 2026 in West Berkshire.

District Council elections

West Berkshire Council has 43 councillors who are elected by the people who are registered to vote in West Berkshire. There are 24 electoral wards and each ward is represented by up to three councillors. Elections are held for all 43 seats at the same time and councillors serve for a term of four years. 

Politically, the Council is currently composed of 28 Liberal Democrats, 11 Conservatives, 2 Green Party, 1 Labour and 1 Independent councillor. To find your councillor or council meetings, please visit our web page.
 

The next scheduled district elections will be held on Thursday 6 May 2027, subject to any possible changes resulting from local government re-organisation.

Parish Council elections are not affected by government re-organisation.

By-elections

By-elections can occur in any district, ward or parish if a serving councillor resigns, dies or is disqualified, thereby creating a 'casual vacancy'.
