Child Protection Conferences: Information for Professionals

This information is for professionals.

Detailed information on your role in a Child Protection Conference is available in the Berkshire Local Safeguarding Children Parnership (LSCP) Child Protection Procedures Manual. You can also find guidance in our Icon for pdf Handout for Professionals Invited to a Conference [210KB] .

In West Berkshire we use a framework designed to increase family involvement in drawing up the child protection plan, which is based on the Strengthening Families model. (The Strengthening Families model has been used in West Berkshire since July 2005. It draws on earlier research by Andrew Turnell and by Rob Sawyer and Suzanne Lohrbach, and is built upon the principles of solution focused therapy and restorative practice.)

It is important that families do not hear new information at the conference, and it is the responsibility of all agencies who have relevant information to make this available, using the Icon for doc Multi-Agency Child Protection Conference Report Template [356KB] .
