Sustainable Transport

Transport is currently the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the UK and decarbonising the transport system is a commitment of the UK Government. The council adopted a refreshed Environment Strategy (2025 - 2030) in May 2025 which includes Sustainable Transport as one of four themes.

The Environment Strategy Delivery Plan contains a series of actions relating to sustainable transport and active travel. This section sets out our work to deliver these actions, including developing cycle hubs, increasing the amount of electric vehicle charge points, and encouraging our staff to travel sustainably. In addition, the council's 'Pathway to Net Zero' shows how we aim to reduce emissions generated by the council's own assets and activities, including travel.

Local Transport Plan 4

Local Transport Plan 4 (LTP4) is a key document for the district, setting out the council's transport vision, objectives and investment priorities.
