Upgraded tennis and netball courts unveiled at Kennet School for the Local Community
Newly upgraded sports courts at Kennet School are now open
West Berkshire Council is proud to announce, in collaboration with Kennet School and Everyone Active the unveiling of a significant Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) upgrading project, revitalising six courts for tennis and netball for pupils and the wider community. This transformative upgrade was made possible by funding from West Berkshire Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with additional contributions from Kennet School and Everyone Active, the operators of the adjacent leisure centre.
The newly resurfaced courts have been fully remarked to improve usability and accessibility for all age groups, from primary school children to senior teams across the local area. The project reflects Kennet School's commitment to fostering active lifestyles and supporting community wellbeing.
Ms Grace Rigg, Headteacher of Kennet School, commented:
"This upgrade is a fantastic enhancement for our pupils who have access to high-quality sports facilities during PE lessons and co-curricular activities. It also reinforces our dedication to providing outstanding opportunities for young people in our local community."
Cllr Nigel Foot, Executive Member for Culture, Leisure, Sport and Countryside at West Berkshire Council, said:
"We're delighted to support this project, which strengthens our commitment to improving local facilities and promoting active communities with both their physical and mental health. These courts will benefit residents of all ages and help nurture local sporting talent."
Richard May, Contract Manager at Everyone Active, added:
"We're thrilled to be part of this initiative. The improved courts will be a great asset to our customers and local sports clubs, offering a better experience and encouraging more people to get active."
This project is another example of the strong and productive relationship between Equinox Learning Trust, of which Kennet School is a member and West Berkshire Council. Together, they continue to invest in facilities that benefit both students and the wider community.
