A brush with reality
New art exhibition showcases the creative power of young people in West Berkshire
West Berkshire Council, in partnership with City Arts Newbury, is launching a unique and inspiring art exhibition celebrating the creativity, expression and powerful voices of young people in our community.
The exhibition features artwork created by young people supported by the Council's Youth Justice Support Team (YJST), alongside contributions enabled through partnerships with City Arts, Koestler Arts, and the Turnaround Families Programme.
Together, these organisations champion the use of creativity as a positive tool to support young people, build confidence and help reduce the risk of reoffending.
"Art can be a pathway to positivechange. This exhibition shines a light on the talent, honesty and courage of young people in West Berkshire. Creative expression can be life-changing, especially for those facing real challenges.
"Art gives young people a chance to find their voice, grow in confidence, and feel truly seen, and that can be a powerful step away from offending and towards a brighter, more hopeful future. We are incredibly proud of every young artist involved, and grateful to our partners who help make this amazing work possible."
The exhibition highlights how creative outlets can provide structure, emotional release and a sense of achievement for young people who may otherwise feel disconnected from their community.
