Secondary School Allocation

Ninety nine percent of Year 6 pupils in West Berkshire have been offered one of their preferred secondary schools for September 2026, with 95 percent securing their first choice.

This strong set of results shows continued progress in ensuring local families can access the schools that best meet their needs and supports the council's priority of providing high quality education for all children in West Berkshire.

Councillor Heather Codling, Executive Member for Children and Family Services, said:

"I am absolutely thrilled that we have once again achieved such a strong rate of preferred secondary school allocations. Moving up to secondary school is a major milestone for children and their families, and we know just how much it means to secure a preferred place. It is wonderful to see so many families getting the outcome they were hoping for. This reflects the hard work of our schools, our admissions team and the commitment we have to supporting every child's education."
